For Heart Evangelista, friendship fallouts are 'more painful' than relationship breakups

Heart Evangelista says she finds friendship breakups “more painful” than romantic breakups, noting how she relies on her buds as her family.

The fashion icon opened up about this in the Aug. 21 episode of her vlog series Adulting with Heart and Chiz, where she and her husband Sen. Chiz Escudero delved into love, marriage, and friendships.

The politician mentioned that he finds romantic and friendship breakups equally painful, but his wife said the contrary, stressing how friendship breakups hurt the most in her experience.

“Even in my past, I'm always very clingy to my friends because I don’t have a lot of friends,” Heart began.

“I've always been an outsider in school, I've always been misunderstood, I guess. So whenever I had just like key people, I literally would tell them I couldn’t live without them, although," the actress added, noting that this is where she actually "went wrong."

The 38-year-old star further explained how she’s reliant on her friends especially when she sees them as her family. “I never treat my friends like friends, I treat them like family, that's why when you treat them like family, they know the good and the bad because you’re confident that they saw your heart first, right? So, it’s painful for me,” she mused.

Just like most of us, Heart said she rants about her problems, including about her husband, to her friends that’s why falling out with them makes it more painful for her.

“It's like I wrote all my thoughts into a diary, and they just stole it. So, for me, friendships are hard,” she said.

Heart shared that although she “never believed in outgrowing people,” she understands why some people tend to be distant over the years.

“Maybe I'm naïve or gullible or stupid actually, I never believed in outgrowing people. I always wanted to be with the same people,” she said. “That’s why I take a lot of pictures because I feel like it’s alright now to print these pictures and frame them because they’ll forever be there.”

She added, “But someone once told me that it’s not true that people come and go, I've always believed that everybody can be together forever, but it is what it is.”

The key, she said, is to value communication in every relationship to keep the bond strong over the years.

“Sometimes you do outgrow each other, sometimes you want other things, but what will keep it together is you have to be open and talk to each other,” she said.

“If you’re the type that wants them to stay, you all should have like an open relationship and completely talk about the good and the bad,” she added.

Just recently, Heart faced issues about her “fallout” from her former glam team, Justin Soriano and Jeck Aguilar who also became her friends. Social media users alleged that it was because of “money issues” but the latter has directly denied it as the cause of their falling out.

“The falling-out has nothing to do with money matters. Please, let’s stop making issues,” Justin said. “We are over it already. Patahimikin na po natin ito.”

Heart started working with Justin and Jeck in 2019. The three used to travel the world and attend various events together—from branded affairs to intimate parties—as seen in their social media posts.
