Everything Marvel announced at Comic-Con 2026: From Ryan Gosling as Ghost Rider to new Black Panther
The Marvel Cinematic Universe continues to expand!
Apart from the much-anticipated Avengers: Doomsday, Marvel Studios shared some big announcements about what's to come at San Diego Comic-Con on July 26 (Philippine time). This includes new faces to star as Ghost Rider and Black Panther.
Here's a look at everything announced at Marvel's panel.
Ryan Gosling joins MCU as Ghost Rider
Ryan Gosling will star as Ghost Rider in a 2028 film, which will be directed by Deadpool & Wolverine filmmaker Shawn Levy.
According to a ComicBook.com report, Gosling had previously approached Marvel about playing the part. Marvel Studios chief Feige, however, did not reveal which version of Ghost Rider the Project Hail Mary star will step into.
"[Ryan] is a huge fan of the comics; he did come ot us particularly with a specific vision, based on some particular comics, but I'll let him unveil that as he wants to," Feige told the outlet.
Gosling and Levy previously worked together for Star Wars: Starfighter, which is set for a May 2027 release.
"As Ryan started talking about his vision for this character (Ghost Rider), we started riffing, and I finally said, 'Bro, let's ride.' So guys, we'll see you in 2028," Levy told the Comic-Con crowd.
This wouldn't be the first time a Ghost Rider film was made. In 2007, Nicholas Cage starred as the titular character, also known as Johnny Blaze, alongside Eva Mendes, Gosling's partner.
Agent Carter confirmed for Avengers: Doomsday
The cast of the upcoming Avengers film took the stage in Hall H, drumming up excitement for the flick, which hits cinemas on Dec. 18. Among them was Hayley Atwell, confirming that she'll return as Peggy Carter.
Other stars who appeared include Robert Downey Jr., Chris Evans, Paul Rudd, Anthony Mackie, Pedro Pascal, Simu Liu, Letitia Wright, Winston Duke, Danny Ramirez, Lewis Pullman, David Harbour, Tenoch Huerta, Hannah John-Kamen, and OG X-Men cast Rebecca Romjin, Kelsey Grammer, and James Marsden.
Ryan Reynolds made a surprise appearance in the crowd wearing a grey Deadpool costume as he implied that he'd like to join the Multiverse event film.
A new Black Panther emerges
A third Black Panther film is in the works with Ryan Coogler returning as its director. The big surprise is that a new actor will be taking up the mantle: David Jonsson, who will star as Toussaint or Prince T'Challa II, the son of T'Challa (the late Chadwick Boseman).
The movie will follow Jonsson's character as he "grows up" and "comes of age," according to Marvel.
Following Boseman's passing, the MCU chose not to recast his role and killed off T'Challa. The character's sister, Shuri (Wright), became the next Black Panther in the second film released in 2022. At the end of the film, it was revealed that T'Challa and Nakia (Lupita Nyong'o) shared a son.
Jonsson, a 32-year-old British actor, is known for starring in Alien: Romulus and The Long Walk as well as Mary Stuart on the West End.
