Taylor Swift, Hugh Jackman said to have witnessed Ryan Reynolds' alleged confrontation of Justin Baldoni over Blake Lively 'fat-shaming'
Taylor Swift and Hugh Jackman were supposedly present when Ryan Reynolds allegedly confronted Justin Baldoni for "fat-shaming" his wife Blake Lively.
According to a report by PEOPLE Magazine, the information was revealed after an exhibit in the continuing legal dispute between Lively and Baldoni was recently unsealed. Wayfarer Studios co-founder Jamey Heath's team emailed the document to Baldoni's publicist in July 2024. Baldoni is a co-founder of Wayfarer Studios.
Baldoni and Lively worked together in the 2024 drama It Ends With Us, with both as leads, Baldoni as director, and Lively as producer.
Per the document, Baldoni went to Reynolds and Lively's New York City penthouse on April 25, 2023. Once there, Reynolds supposedly "unloaded" on the director. Reynolds expressed "how horrible it was" that Baldoni asked about Lively's weight. He supposedly accused Baldoni of "fat-shaming Blake," which apparently made Baldoni "completely embarrassed and apologized and even shared some tears."
While all this was supposedly going on, the document mentioned that Swift and Jackman "were also present in the apt at the time." Both stars are close friends of Reynolds and Lively.
The alleged confrontation stemmed from an amended complaint filed by Lively, where she accused Baldoni of "finding back-channel ways of criticizing her body and weight" while It Ends With Us was in production.
According to Lively's lawyers, based on the complaint, she "was humiliated to learn that Mr. Baldoni secretly called her fitness trainer without her knowledge or permission, and implied that he wanted her to lose weight in two weeks."
Addressing the complaint in a $400 million countersuit, which was eventually dismissed, Baldoni explained that he called Lively's trainer "to ask what Lively weighed so that he could train his back muscles in preparation for a lift scene" as he wanted to "avoid injury." Further explaining, Baldoni said he "suffered from lifelong back injuries."
In the countersuit, Baldoni described the 2023 meeting, as well. His lawyers said an "angry" Reynolds "screamed at Baldoni and accused him of fat-shaming his wife." The lawyers alleged that Reynolds said to Baldoni, "How dare you f****ing ask about my wife's weight? What's wrong with you?"
While Swift and Jackman have yet to comment on the revelation that they were present during the confrontation two years ago, Swift previously distanced herself from her friend Lively's film.
When Baldoni attempted to subpoena Swift in May in connection to his legal case against Lively, Swift's representative released a statement: "Taylor Swift never set foot on the set of this movie, she was not involved in any casting or creative decisions, she did not score the film, she never saw an edit or made any notes on the film, she did not even see It Ends With Us until weeks after its public release, and was traveling around the globe during 2023 and 2024 headlining the biggest tour in history."
