Love always wins!

The Quezon City government held a commitment ceremony for couples in the LGBTQIA+ community on Saturday, Feb. 12.

In celebration of Love Month, a total of 222 queer pairs proclaimed their love and strengthened their commitment during the love-filled event, with Mayor Joy Belmonte as the officiant. “Love has no limits. Love is universal. Love wins, always,” she wrote in a Facebook post

Among their witnesses were councilors Hero Bautista, Irene Belmonte, and Ivy Lagman; project coordinator for Asia, Outright Action International and anti-discrimination rights champion Ging Cristobal; Miss Trans Global 2020 and LGBTQIA+ rights advocate Mela Habijan; and Spark Philippines Executive Director and gender equality advocate Maica Teves.

This was the second time that the city government initiated a commitment ceremony for LGBTQIA+ couples. The first one took place in 2020.
