'Kailangan Kita: An Ogie Alcasid Musical' set to be staged in May 2027
Get your hearts ready, theater fans! Kailangan Kita: An Ogie Alcasid Musical is set to hit the stage in May 2027.
The upcoming musical will be headlined by OPM's legendary icons, Ogie Alcasid and Asia's songbird Regine Velasquez.
The announcement was made toward the end of Bongga Ka Day: The Annie Batungbakal Musical show on Oct. 31.
In their guest appearance on Karmina Constantino’s KC After Hours episode last February, Alcasid, the "Chief of OPM," shared that Johnny Manahan encouraged him to turn his songs into a stage production, prompting him to develop the story and write the musical’s songs.
He shared that the musical had been seven years in the making and was originally scheduled to premiere in October. However, he decided to wait for his wife. Velasquez recently held a three-day "FINALE" concert this month.
Alcasid mentioned in the same episode that casting Velasquez in the lead role was non-negotiable.

Per Alcasid, the story follows a musician who loses everything and is left to raise his daughter. He said it will feature all of his songs, including Ikaw Lamang, Kailangan Kita, and Pangarap Ko Ay Ibigin Ka.
Alcasid also teased his musical in 2024.
Sign up for the waitlist on TicketWorld. Additional details for the 2027 staging, including the other cast members, show dates, and selling dates, have yet to be announced.
The show will be presented by Newport World Resorts, in association with Viva, The Philippine STAR, and Alcasid’s ATeam PH.
NPAT recently staged Bagets The Musical, which successfully ran from January to March 2026. It was followed by Bongga Ka Day: The Annie Batungbakal Musical, which ran from September to October.
