Business mogul Roberto V. Ongpin has passed away. He was 86.

His nephew Apa confirmed the news on Sunday, Feb. 5, saying that he died in his sleep on Saturday, Feb. 4 in Balesin.

His remains will be brought to Manila, but details about his wake are yet to be finalized.

He is survived by his wife Monica Arellano Ongpin, with whom he shares four children: Stephen, Anna, Michelle, and Julian. He also has four grandchildren, "two of whom he got to play with before he went to sleep last night," said Apa.

Ongpin landed on Forbes Magazine's "Philippines' 50 Richest List" in 2022.

He served as the chairman of Alphaland, a property developer that manages the Balesin Island Club among other high-end properties.

In August, his declared net worth was $830 million (P44.5 billion).
