No toll on new NLEX C5 Northlink section until year-end
Motorists plying the newly opened North Luzon Expressway C5 Northlink section can do so without paying for toll until the end of 2026.
President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. announced news of the toll-free period at the inauguration of the two-kilometer NLEX C5 Northlink Segment 8.2 Section 1A on Thursday, Oct. 29.
"Kagaya ng mga ginagawa natin sa ibang lugar, sa ibang mga daanan na bagong bukas, dahil kaya pa naman, pinagbibigyan tayo, libre ang pagdaan dito ngayon hanggang end of the year," Marcos told media.
The two-kilometer section connects the NLEX Mindanao Avenue toll plaza in Valenzuela City to Quirino Highway in Quezon City by crossing the Tullahan River in Quezon City. Once completed, the whole NLEX-C5 Northlink project will span 11.3 kilometers from Mindanao Avenue to C5/C.P. Garcia, right by Katipunan Avenue.
According to the Philippine News Agency, the newly opened segment is expected to serve about 11,000 vehicles daily.
The project is the result of a public-private partnership between the Toll Regulatory Board and NLEX Corporation.
