Sony Pictures has recently dropped a tear-jerking trailer for Yellow Rose, a film revolving around a heartfelt story about a young Filipino from a small Texas town who aims to become a country music singer while facing the threat of deportation.

The two-minute trailer shared by Sony Pictures reveals the story of Rose, an undocumented 17-year-old Filipino who longs to pursue her country music dreams. But her world comes crashing down when agents from Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) suddenly arrests her mom. Forced to flee and on the run, Rose embarks on a journey of self-discovery as she searches for a new home in the honky tonk world of Austin, Texas.

Helmed by Filipino-American director Diane Paragas, the film stars Grammy Award winner and two-time Tony Award nominee Eva Noblezada, Tony Award winner Lea Salonga, Princess Punzalan, Dale Watson, Gustavo Gomez, Libby Villari and Liam Booth.

Sony sets the release of Yellow Rose in theaters on October 9. It is the first Filipino film acquired by Sony for theatrical release in the US.
