Robert Downey Jr. to give away 6 cars from his personal collection
Robert Downey Jr. of Iron Man fame is giving away six of his dream cars.
Downey took to his Instagram stories on Aug. 2 to make the announcement, showing a photo of him sitting on one of the cars.
Details about the giveaway were also posted on his website RDJ Dream Cars Sweepstakes.
The cars are namely a 1965 Chevrolet Corvette, a 1966 Buick Riviera, a 1969 Mercedes-Benz 280SE, a 1972 Chevrolet K10 Pickup, a 1972 VW Bus, and a 1985 Chevrolet El Camino.
The website states that the raffle is open only to legal residents of the United States, the District of Columbia, the United Kingdom, and Canada sans Quebec.
To join, one must make a donation to FootPrint Coalition, a nonprofit Downey had founded which, according to the website, "accelerates technologies that will help create a future of sustainable abundance" and "supports the research, development, and adoption of scientific solutions to ensure human and planetary health."
Contributions range from 10 ($10 or P555) to 8,500 ($5,000 or P277,000) entries.
Purchasing limited edition shirts on the website also grants either 40 or 80 entries depending on the shirt, priced at $79 (P4,300) or $109 (P6,000).
"You can be one of the six winners, each receiving one of these beauties that we converted to drive to a pollution-free future," Downey said on his website. "Enter for your chance to win one of the RDJ Dream Cars and experience the future of automotive technology."
The drawing will end on July 16, 2024.
