Now that the most wonderful time of the year has finally arrived, our local celebrities have been filling their Instagram accounts with pictures of them having a very merry Christmas with those close to their hearts. But Maxene Magalona took a different route as she revealed that she spent the holiday alone.

On her Instagram, Maxene posted a picture of herself having a meal at a caviar restaurant. However, the bright smile on her face is as real as it can be as she highlighted that she doesn't mind spending Christmas by her lonesome.

Sharing a quote from former Indian president A.P.J. Abdul Kalam that read "Sitting alone is better than walking with the wrong people," Maxene wrote that she took herself out on a date and enjoyed a fancy dinner on Christmas day.

"For the first time in eight years, I’m spending the holiday break in Manila and even though I’m alone, I’m not going to let that stop me from celebrating and gifting myself a well-deserved holiday treat," Maxene said.

And the 36-year old actress indeed had a joyous "me" time as she could be seen smiling ear to ear while having a scrumptious asparagus dish.

Maxene's acceptance toward the single life comes as she became very open and vocal about her failed marriage with her ex-husband, musician Rob Mananquil, as well as her thoughts about love and relationships during the past few months.

In a previous Instagram post, she took the time to answer those who "find it weird" that she still posts her wedding photos even though her marriage "didn’t work out." She simply answered that it's her way of honoring her pain while jokingly adding: "Ang ganda ko sa photos, sayang naman."

In another post, she also had some words of wisdom for women who are looking for a love life: attract boys, but never chase them.

"Work on your soul/soil as though it were a garden and let the bees come to you. Work on yourself every day," Maxene said, adding that women should not waste their energy trying to please boys.
