Noah Wyle—beloved American actor and current lead star of the hit medical drama The Pitt—has officially been named People’s Sexiest Man Alive for 2026.

At first, Wyle thought the whole thing was a prank. "Not in a million years did I think that this would be an honor bestowed on me," he confessed.

Luckily, his wife, Sara, convinced him he was more than worthy of the title.

"She thinks I’m a good guy, and that the kind of person I am, the kind of father I am, the kind of husband I am, is worth promoting. I thought, ‘Okay, if you say so,'" he told the publication.

"She was very pleased that this reflects well on her taste," he added.

His sons, though, had a different reaction. Recalling the conversation with them, one of Wyle's boys said, "'Oh, this is going to make my life so much harder now. But that’s cool, Dad. But also, you invite a lot of haters too,'" he quoted.

"My older daughter was just like, 'No way, no way.' Because I think she’s going to tease me about this for the next 50 years," he continued.

Meanwhile, Wyle is ready to hear from his former ER co-star, George Clooney. The duo once shared the cover of People’s “Sexy Men of ER” issue back in the '90s with their other co-stars Eriq La Salle and Anthony Edwards.

"I think he’ll be amused and feel, hopefully, like a proud papa, that I’ve come of gray-haired age," Wyle said, who admitted that back in middle school he was "short and stocky," describing that time in his life as "rife with insecurity."

"I was so hoping today was going to be the day [that I become comfortable in my own skin]. 'Look at you. You’re the Sexiest Man Alive. Finally you can be comfortable in your own skin.' Not yet. I like being in other people’s skin. I like putting on characters. I get self-conscious. It’s still the hardest kind of interaction for me, speaking without a script as myself," he told People.

Best known for playing Dr. John Carter on ER, Wyle made a return to medical drama decades later as Dr. Michael "Robby" Robinavitch in HBO Max's The Pitt, where he is also one of the executive producers. His standout performance earned him both a Television Critics Association Award and the Emmy Award for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series.

Aside from being an actor, Wyle is a television director, producer and writer.
