Kris Aquino responds to post by ex-boyfriend's son, bares battle with 9 autoimmune disorders
Kris Aquino noted she "did not lie" in her last post about her breakup with Dr. Mike Padlan, in which she said he "did not love" her.
This comes after Padlan's son Miguel lamented "false stories" on the ex-couple's split, noting that they broke up because they lost their "spark" for each other.
In an Instagram post on Wednesday, April 2, the "Queen of All Media" shared a lengthy statement on her past relationship with Padlan along with a health update.
"I do not lie. My last post was written by a still angry ex-girlfriend who had felt that even for her health care, she was unimportant and not a priority," she wrote.
She noted that she paid for Padlan's services as her travel doctor in May 2022, adding that the latter flew to Houston to check on her after her bout with COVID-19.
"My mistake is that I failed to state that he flew to LA around [four times] more on his own volition—I didn't ask for him to check on me; I would just be surprised that he'd be there. Those visits weren't paid for, nag-abono pa nga sya. Doc Mike, I apologize for not stating this in my earlier post."
Throughout their relationship, the former TV host grew closer to the doctor's family, including with "Pokémon" and "Lego," who would also bond with her sons.
She then recalled "Pokémon" sleeping between her and Bimby with Josh, which made her feel "so special."
"I miss Pokémon and Lego so much," she wrote.
"Mama Kris is very sorry for making you angry and sad because of what I posted. I was wrong in not considering the impact it would have on both of you. You both brought sunshine and laughter when I most needed it. I know I am no longer deserving to be your Mama Kris," she continued.
On financial matters with Doc Mike
Aquino also addressed Miguel's claim that there were times when his father "had little to no money left and was losing patients at his clinic, yet he still chose to be with her."
She confirmed that Padlan went through financial problems in 2024 but noted it was "unjust to blame" it on her.
"I am also not in a position to say why these hardships occurred—I only hope that those who love and wish to defend him realize this valid point, when a man needs help—what man would want a handout from his sick girlfriend?" she said, adding that she offered help when Padlan and "Pokémon" flew home and had "ferocious" asthma and flew.
"To set the record straight, from Aug. 21 to 28, 2024, Alvin, upon my instructions, had funds transferred to doc Mike's personal account from [three] of the banks we have placements in."
A "sizeable" amount, labeled for professional services rendered, as per Aquino, came from her and Bimby's shared account. The actress asked for her son's permission before making the fund transfer.
'I only defended my factual truth'
In her post, Aquino stated that she has "accepted and understood" that she "loved [Padlan] much more than he was capable of loving [her]."
She also responded to Miguel's post, saying that she's only defending her "factual truth."
"I took the time to respond to your statements directly. Umasa pa rin ako that you didn't know everything. So, your statements came from not having seen the entire picture. I have receipts, but why will I, in proving your allegations wrong, make people see who really is telling the truth. I did promise to be mama Kris come what may," she said.
On March 18, Miguel defended his father against "lies" and "baseless narratives" following Aquino's statement that Padlan "didn't love [her] and chose to leave when [her] autoimmune conditions were multiplying."
"Their relationship was real, and he cared deeply for her. But love alone is not always enough to make a relationship last forever. Sometimes, two people are simply not meant to be together in the long run, no matter how much they once loved each other," he said.
The doctor's son also lamented how he and his sibling "often felt neglected" during the course of Aquino and Padlan's relationship because he was always traveling to the US to be with the actress.
Despite this, Padlan "never asked her for anything" and anything he received from the Queen of All Media was out of her "kindness and generosity," Miguel said.
The TV host first revealed that she had a boyfriend who's a doctor in June 2024 and said she would keep things private until they got married. In February, however, she said she's been single "for some time now."
Health update
Aquino also gave a health update and revealed that she's now battling nine autoimmune diseases: autoimmune thyroiditis, chronic spontaneous urticaria, EPGA, systemic sclerosis/scleroderma, lupus, rheumatoid arthritis, fibromyalgia, polymyositis, and mixed connective tissue disease.
She also shared that Padlan diagnosed her with shingles.
"The odds are against my survival, but I have faith in the power of prayer," she wrote.
"And I don't break my promises, I said I'd return for you to watch me—I am hoping to be strong enough before Mother's Day," she added.
Aquino recently posted a video on Instagram sharing her ongoing battle with lupus flare fever that has been affecting her for more than two weeks now.
"This is MY NOW… I wanted you to see the pain and struggle so that you will continue to pray," she wrote in the caption of her post.
The video compilation showed a noticeably thinner Aquino, with visible bruises on her arms and legs and red spots on her face. She also showed her fever reaching a temperature of 38.5 degrees Celsius, highlighting the severity of her condition.
