Kim Soo Hyun to take legal action against people spreading malicious and false information about him online

Kim Soo Hyun, through his agency GOLDMEDALIST, will take legal action against users who are spreading malicious rumors and defamatory content against him.

In a statement obtained by the K-entertainment website Soompi, the agency revealed that they have filed a legal complaint to authorities on Monday, April 14 for charges of defamation following malicious posts, comments, and false information targeting the Korean star.

"In particular, baseless speculative content and unverified claims have been continuously and repeatedly shared, leading the public to form misconceptions and damaging the artist’s reputation," GOLDMEDALIST said, emphasizing that such actions should not be taken lightly.

His management called out anonymous Internet users or "cyber wreckers" who post fake news and harmful content targeting celebrities. They said this is a serious problem as they confirmed that some of them have been identified and are set to face legal consequences.

Furthermore, the agency noted that they are committed to protecting their artists from any criminal behavior.

The statement came a few weeks after the Korean actor denied allegations that he dated late actress Kim Sae Ron when she was a minor while apologizing that the latter “isn’t able to rest in peace" in a press conference last March 31. The actor stressed that his relationship with Sae Ron "was just like that of any other ordinary couple."

The actor starred in various hit K-dramas, including Queen of Tears, Its Okay Not to Be Okay, My Love from the Star, The Moon Embracing the Sun, Dream High, and The Producers, among others.

Sae Ron, meanwhile, began her career at nine years old and became a notable child star by starring in the thriller-drama Korean film A Brand New Life. She also starred in the 2010 action-thriller film The Man From Nowhere. She died by suicide in February.
