KATSEYE's Sophia proud of Filipinos raising PH flag at Coachella 2026
It was a proud Pinoy moment at Coachella 2026 as KATSEYE's Sophia Laforteza beamed with pride after seeing fellow Filipinos in the audience raise the Philippine flag during their set.
The global girl group made their debut on the Sahara Stage, delivering a high-energy set that even featured guest appearances from KPop Demon Hunters' Ejae, Audrey Nuna, and Rei Ami.
Sophia, who is a Filipino-American and the group’s leader, marked their debut by giving a heartwarming speech to the crowd, making it a point to highlight her fellow Filipinos.
"I’m overwhelmed with emotion. It’s so beautiful. I see some people raising the Filipino flag here in Coachella. You guys are making our dreams come true," she said.
For their set, KATSEYE treated fans with the first-ever performance of their newly released single Pinky Up, followed by early singles like Debut and Touch. The set only got more electric with performances of their greatest hits, Gnarly and Gabriela.
KATSEYE is composed of six members: Daniela Avanzini, Lara Raj, Manon Bannerman, Megan Skiendiel, Sophia Laforteza, and Yoonchae Jeung. With members from the Philippines, South Korea, Switzerland, and the United States, KATSEYE is often described as a "global girl group."
However, Manon has been on a temporary hiatus since February to focus on her health. It was not specified when she will rejoin the group.
The 25th edition of Coachella kickstarted on April 10 at the Empire Polo Club in Indio, California and will continue until April 19. The scheduled headlining performers are Sabrina Carpenter, Justin Bieber, and Karol G.
Apart from Sophia, BINI took the Coachella stage as the first Filipino act to perform on the global music fest.
