Hoping to earn a master’s degree in the UK? Here’s how you can score a scholarship

Chevening, the United Kingdom government’s international scholarships program, is offering Filipinos a chance to take a fully funded master’s degree course in the UK for a year.

Among the benefits included in the award are university tuition fees, monthly stipend, travel costs to and from the UK, arrival allowance, homeward departure allowance, cost of one visa application, and travel grant to attend Chevening events in the UK. They will be funded by the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office, and its partner organizations.

You may choose your course as long as it’s eligible at UK universities—meaning, your pick must be “full-time, start in the autumn term (usually September/October), taught master’s (i.e. not research-focused MRes programs), lead to a master’s degree qualification, and based in the UK.”

Aside from being able to join a community of over 50,000 alumni across the globe, you’ll also “return home equipped with the knowledge and networks to bring your ideas to life and thrive in your career.”

Interested? You must submit your education documents, references, and one unconditional UK university offer via the “update my application” button on its official website, which also contains an application timeline. Chevening will update you via email about your application status with every step you will accomplish.

For the next stage of the application, you would also need to be interviewed in the Philippines, “in the city/town where the British embassy or high commission has a representation.”

The applications for the 2023/2024 Chevening Scholarships will be up from Aug. 2 to Nov. 1. Best of luck!
