Love, faith, and kindness
At 85 and 83, respectively, Arthur Alonte and his wife Fe were a picture of bliss and vigor as they held hands while entering the Coral Ballroom of the East Ocean Palace Restaurant in Parañaque City at their recent joint birthday celebration.
The couple were in identical pink suit and khaki pants, as if telling their guests that they think alike—both in life and in love.
“I still pack his clothes every time we travel. And if he travels without me, I make sure he brings his essentials,” said Fe of her acts of loving kindness for her husband.
“We pray the rosary together. Every night. If I come home late, she waits for me before she starts praying,” says Arthur, former mayor of Biñan.
The couple has been married for 58 years and they remain to be the universe of their highly accomplished children. In fact, Mar Alonte, former Biñan City Rep. Len Alonte-Naguiat, Biñan City Mayor Gel Alonte, Cherry Nunez, and Dr. Arlene Ancheta—left no stone unturned in making sure they gave the best party for their Papa Arthur and Mama Fe. They, too, took turns entertaining guests composed of relatives and close family friends.

“Papa Arthur taught us the value of hard work, responsibility, and perseverance. He showed us that providing for your family is not only about material things, but about being present for them. His life taught us to work hard, stay humble, and never forget to help others along the way.
“Mama Fe taught us the importance of love, faith, kindness, and keeping the family together. She taught us to care for others, to be grateful for what we have, and to always choose compassion,” said Mar, the eldest child of the couple.
Len, for her part, said integrity, love for family and humility are part of the lessons she learned from her parents.
“Papa Arthur taught me that the most important things in life are not material possessions, but the people we love and the values we stand for. From Mama Fe, I learned to never underestimate the power of prayer. She is the biggest prayer warrior I know, always lifting her family up to God, trusting in His plans, and believing in His goodness even in the most difficult times,” said Len.
Gel, on the other hand, said, “We admire how loving and sweet Papa is to Mama, and how generous he is to us and especially to his grandchildren. Mama loves having everyone together, especially during dinner at their house every night. For her, these moments are very special. She reminds us that no matter how busy life gets, we should always make time for family because being together is one of life’s greatest blessings.”
For her part, Cherry said: “Mama and Papa changed our lives by showing unconditional love and sacrifice. They always work hard to provide for our family. Also, despite their busy and hectic schedules, they always made time for us. They never let us feel alone and forgotten.”
She added: “They taught us that love is not measured only by what they provide materially, but also by the time they give, the sacrifices they make, and the effort they put into making us feel loved.”
Meanwhile, Dr. Arlene, the youngest in the brood, said, “The greatest lesson I learned from Papa Arthur is resilience. From Mama Fe, faith. Together, they have shown me how to meet life’s challenges with courage, calmness and trust in God.”
She added, “I may not be able to point to one single moment when they changed my life but their love truly has an impact on me. Their influence has been woven into my life all along.”
Happy birthday, Tito Arthur and Tita Fe.
