Miss World Philippines 2018 Katarina Rodriguez delivers her pregnancy news in a funny reveal
The bun is in the oven for model and former beauty queen Katarina Rodriguez and her partner Niño Barbers.
Katarina revealed the big news on her YouTube channel on Aug. 9.
She started the vlog with her taking a pregnancy test, as she has not had her period “in almost nine months.” After anxiously waiting for the result, she excitedly revealed that the pregnancy test turned out positive.
The Miss World Philippines 2018 then told her partner Niño, an entrepreneur, the good news. To which Niño replied, “Of course, you’re pregnant!” Then zoom out to the couple hugging, which showed Katarina already has a huge baby bump.
“I’m so excited to finally share the big announcement that I have, the secret that I’ve been keeping for the past seven… eight months. And that secret is, I’m pregnant!” said the blooming mom-to-be.
Katarina’s reveal was a surprise for most of her followers on social media as the model-turned-beauty-queen has continuously posted some photos of her in a bikini, showing off her beach bod.
But Katarina broke the news early on to her friends, including actress Andi Eigenmann and influencer Danika Nemis, who also threw her a baby shower recently.
Living the island life in Siargao since March 2020, Katarina documented her pregnancy with video clips of her doing yoga, boxing, soaking under the sun, weighing herself, and enjoying the beach. She also gave a behind-the-scenes look of her maternity shoot.
Among those who sent their congratulations were her followers, some of whom have been her fans since her Asia’s Next Top Model days; actress Liza Soberano, influencers Angelique Manto, David Guison and Dani Barretto, Miss International 2016 Kylie Verzosa, and the Viva Artist Agency.
Miss Universe Philippines director of communications Voltaire Tayag also sent his congratulations via Instagram Stories and told Katarina, “I’m so touched that you asked me to be a ninong.”
In an exclusive interview with MEGA, Katarina said, “Pregnancy humbled me. I went from feeling like I knew people and how the world works to seeing how little I actually knew about life.”
“Aside from experiencing the actual delivery, I’m most excited for making each day of my child’s life the best day of its life. Every day will be an adventure,” said Katarina on the thing that she’s looking forward to about motherhood.
Katarina also revealed that she and Niño, the son of the late senator Robert Barbers, discussed that she will give birth in Davao where her family is from. The couple had been living in Siargao for two years, where Niño’s family-owned resort Bayud Boutique Resort is located.
