Gretchen Ho: Taking action to empower women

A woman who speaks can lead society into action. And that is exactly what TV host, reporter, and all-around woman-in-action Gretchen Ho is doing.

For her, success comes from constant effort. She has evolved from a university athlete to an events host, news anchor, and a beacon for women to let their voices be heard. She also became known as a “Woman in Action” due to her hard work.

“When I envision something, I get into action to achieve it. Work hard, never forget to have a good work ethic, take action day by day, and keep improving daily. Move forward with consistency,” she said. 

Before working as a news anchor, Gretchen was a star volleyball player and was part of successful teams at the prestigious UAAP and 2014 PSL Grand Prix Conference Games. Then, she entered the media industry as a TV reporter and started telling powerful stories of people from different walks of life. 

In 2017, Gretchen became an ambassador for health and nutrition at the Philippine section of World Vision, a humanitarian aid and development agency. 

Her hard work didn’t go to waste. Her advocacies and achievements were soon recognized by various organizations. She has been named as Best News Personality at the 2020 Paragala Awards, Most Outstanding Female Correspondent at the 2020 Gawad Lasallianeta, Best New Female Segment Host of the Year at the 2019 Gawad Pilipino, consistent awardee for Best Lifestyle Show and Best Morning Show Host at the PMPC Star Awards for TV, and Student’s Choice of Personality for Social Media Development at the 2016 USTv XII Awards.

Gretchen continues to use her influence to help and empower people for the better. “It’s not just about the hard work, it’s also about doors and opportunities. I strive to use these connections to help other people. I make use of my platform and network so that I can help more people in need,” she added.

Gretchen is named as “Beacon” for PLDT Home’s #SheConnects campaign. She joins a stellar group of women in a masterclass series that showcases inspiring women and how they connect with others to elevate and empower.

“My hope is that more will rise up to lead and use their platforms to empower and connect more women for a better future,” she said.
