MRT-3 warns vs online scam selling beep cards with 'unlimited' rides

The Metro Rail Transit Line 3 management warns the public against ads selling bogus beep cards with an unlimited rides perk.

In its recent public advisory, the management warned commuters that ads of beep cards with unlimited rides under the Facebook page “Manila Metro” are “fake and unauthorized by MRT-3.”

“These online advertisements, often posted on suspicious social media pages, are not legitimate and may be part of a scam designed to trick individuals,” it added.

MRT-3 management also urged the public to be “cautious and skeptical” of such postings and to refrain from sharing personal information or sending any form of payment to dubious accounts.

“The public is also reminded to refer only to MRT-3's official Facebook page for accurate updates and legitimate announcements,” it said.

The management also warned of appropriate actions against individuals using the management’s name, logo, or images for personal or fraudulent purposes.

A beep card is a reloadable card used for cashless payments in trains, buses, modern PUVs, and select convenience stores. It can be purchased in train stations via a teller's booth or using the self-service Ticket Vending Machines and through beep's official store on Shopee and Lazada
