Amber Heard introduces her first child born ‘on my own terms’ through surrogacy
Aquaman star Amber Heard is now a mom! The 35-year-old actress took to social media to introduce the world to her baby girl born via surrogacy.
With her first name inspired by an Irish folklore story of the queen of the fairies, Oonagh Paige Heard was born on April 8, 2021. Amber shared that she wanted a child as early as 2017, but wanted the process to be on her own terms.
"I now appreciate how radical it is for us as women to think about one of the most fundamental parts of our destinies in this way. I hope we arrive at a point in which it’s normalized to not want a ring in order to have a crib," she shared via Instagram.
"A part of me wants to uphold that my private life is none of anyone’s business. I also get that the nature of my job compels me to take control of this," she added. Heard has been under public scrutiny amid her divorce and domestic violence cases against ex-husband Johnny Depp. A recent ruling saw Depp lose a libel case against British tabloid The Sun.
Meanwhile, Heard calls Oonagh "the beginning of the rest of my life."
