'The Conjuring' house to be auctioned off on Halloween

The house that inspired The Conjuring franchise will be up for auction during Halloween, no less.

According to JJManning Auctioneers, the Perron family's farmhouse, which was depicted in the supernatural horror franchise's first film in 2013, will be up for grabs on Oct. 31 at 11 a.m. local time. (For the film, a property in North Carolina was used for exterior shots, while interior scenes were shot in a studio.)

The property, dubbed The Conjuring House, is located at 1677 Round Top Road in Burrillville, Rhode Island. It's described as an "antique farmhouse that has become famous for historical paranormal sightings and activity."

It measures 3,023 square feet and is situated on 8.5 acres of land.

JJManning said there must be a 10% certified deposit, with $25,000 payable by cash, certified, or bank check at the auction. The balance of the 10% due, meanwhile, will be within two business days. Closing must be completed within 30 days.

Additional terms will be announced at the sale, according to the auctioneer. Any announcements or changes made at the auction block or included in the purchase agreement will take precedence over previously printed materials or oral statements.

JJManning Auctioneers President Justin Manning, in a statement shared with PEOPLE Magazine, said that despite them selling many famous properties for the past 50 years, the Conjuring House's auction "is already receiving more attention in one week than all of those others combined.”

“We expect builders, developers, and fans of the supernatural to compete for this prized property," he added.

In The Conjuring, set in the '70s, paranormal investigators Ed and Lorraine Warren (Patrick Wilson and Vera Farmiga) look into the house where a possessed doll named Annabelle exists.

The story is based on the real-life Warrens, who founded the New England Society for Psychic Research in 1952. The paranormal research organization remains active today even after Ed and Lorraine's deaths in 2006 and 2019, respectively.

The Annabelle case serves as one of the couple's most famous cases.

The success of The Conjuring led to sequels The Conjuring 2 (2016), The Conjuring: The Devil Made Me Do It (2021), and The Conjuring: The Last Rites (2025).

The franchise, dubbed The Conjuring Universe, also has the prequels Annabelle (2014), Annabelle: Creation (2017), and Annabelle Comes Home (2019). It even has spiritual prequels in The Nun (2018) and The Nun II (2023).

The Conjuring Universe got a Guinness World Record for being the highest-grossing horror film series at the global box office, making over $2.2 billion across its eight entries as of Feb. 27, 2024.
