Lourdes Faberes, a Filipina actress known for her role in The Sandman, is joining the cast of Netflix's live-action Avatar: The Last Airbender.

The streamer announced the newest members of the Earth Kingdom in the show's upcoming second season on Nov. 13.

The Pinay will play General Sung, one of the Earth King's most trusted generals in the Earth Kingdom. Originally male in the original animated series, Sung led the team defending the Outer Wall of Ba Sing Se.

"I’ve been sitting on this news for over a month now and I’m so thrilled to say I’m joining the [Avatar] family!" Lourdes wrote in an Instagram post. "This beautiful show explores so many of the things I deeply believe in like courage, friendship, resilience, and that sometimes, the greatest adventure is finding somewhere to call home when the rest of the world is on fire. IYKYK."

"In my whole career in the UK and Europe, I've almost always been the lone East Asian on the entire film set. To be amongst a whole sea of Asian talent makes my heart so full. It's been such a long time coming," she added.

The second season also adds stars Chin Han as Long Feng, the leader of the secret police known as the Dai Lee; Justin Chien as King Kuei, ruler of the Earth Kingdom; Amanda Zhou as Joo Dee, Team Avatar's guide in Ba Sing Se; Crystal Yu as Lady Beifong, Toph's mother; Kelemete Misipeka as The Boulder, an earthbending wrestler; Hoa Xuande as Professor Zei, who's searching for Wan Shi Tong's Library; and Rekha Sharma as Amita, a new character.

In September, the series announced that Miya Cech will play the next addition to Team Avatar, or the Gaang: Toph Beifong.

The live-action Avatar: The Last Airbender stars Gordan Cormier, Kiawentiio, Ian Ousley, Dallas Liu, Elizabeth Yu, Paul Sun-Hyung Lee, and Daniel Day Kim.

Lourdes has appeared in Good Omens, No Time to Die, Boiling Point, and Knightfall. She was born in Manila before moving to the United Kingdom to enroll at the Central School of Speech and Drama.
