Calling all thespians! Auditions are now open for 'Gabriela: The Musical'
Following the success of Lauren Gunderson's anthropology, Barefoot Theatre Collaborative is turning to history for its next stage offering in 2026.
Gabriela: The Musical, set in 1762 Ilocos, is an original Filipino production that revisits the life of Gabriela Silang, reframing her not just as a widow of revolt but as a central force in shaping it.
Through a tapestry of myth, magic, and mystery, the production centers on a love story forged in resistance and shaped by questions of land and identity.
The show marks a reunion for the creative forces behind Bar Boys: The Musical (2025), with Pat Valera, Myke Salomon, and Mikko Angeles returning to collaborate.
Alongside the announcement, Barefoot Theatre Collaborative revealed that auditions for the production are now open to the public. Interested applicants can submit their applications through this link.
The production is looking for male and female performers for the lead, supporting, and ensemble roles. Ages range from late teens to late 20s and early 30s. They're also looking for male performers aged late 40s and early 50s.
