SEVENTEEN releases trot single 'God of Light Music'
What a lovely holiday treat for Filo CARATs!
K-pop boy group SEVENTEEN released a digital single titled God of Light Music.
According to the group's agency, PLEDIS Entertainment, God of Light Music is a trot song that was created on their YouTube series, Going Seventeen, to promote their 11th EP Seventeenth Heaven and its lead track, God of Music.
"There were many requests from fans to release the music of God of Light Music, which was originally made as a promotional content for Seventeen's comeback," the agency said in a statement, according to Korea JoongAng Daily.
In case you don't know, trot, or foxtrot, is a Korean music genre that plays around with rhythm and voice. According to Billboard, it's the oldest form of Korean popular music that blends Korean folk songs with Japanese enka, blues, swing, jazz, and other Western genres.
Filo CARATs can now enjoy the song on streaming platforms, including Spotify, Apple Music, or iTunes. It was released earlier today, Dec. 26, alongside a trot remix of God of Music.
SEVENTEEN debuted in 2015 under PLEDIS Entertainment. Among their well-known music are Aju Nice, Home, Don't Wanna Cry, Hot, and Super.
They're currently on their Follow World tour, which includes Philippine stops on Jan. 13 and 14 at the Philippine Sports Stadium in Bulacan.
The concert will mark SEVENTEEN's first return to the Philippines after their historic Be The Sun Bulacan concert last December 2022 at the Philippine Arena. The group also made history as the first solo K-pop act to headline a show at the world's largest indoor arena.
The 13-man act also held a two-night sold-out concert at the Mall of Asia Arena last Oct. 8 and 9 of the same year.
