Pasig Mayor Vico Sotto's post-pandemic plans? Kissing, apparently,
A clip of the young mayor has gone viral for joking that he’ll allow constituents to kiss him after the COVID-19 pandemic.
During a visit to Barangay Rosario in Pasig with Cong. Roman Romulo, the 32-year-old was met with cheers by his constituents, with others urging him to kiss them. He quipped that he didn’t like to make promises, but will make an exception.
"Pasensya na po, bawal pa ang kiss. Ipagdasal po natin na matapos ang pandemiya na ito," the mayor began.
“Ako hindi ako mahilig mangako. Kahit balikan niyo po yung mga sinasabi ko nung panahon ng kampanya ng 2019, kahit 2016, hindi niyo ko maririnig na nagpapangako."
“Pero pangako ko po sa inyo, pagkatapos ng pandemya, kahit mag-kiss po tayo, pwedeng pwede po.”
His joke was met with cheers by the Rosario citizens. The mayor was in a joking mood that day, as he also poked fun at being given two microphones and having comedian Ruby Rodriguez as his mother.
Sotto is eyeing a second term as Pasig mayor after he defeated Bobby Eusebio in 2019. His 80,000-vote lead in the mayoral elections ended the 27-year rule of the Eusebio family.
