Emily Ratajowski shares pregnancy news in a baby reveal video for 'Vogue'
In today's baby news: Emily Ratajkowski and husband Sebastian Bear-McClard are pregnant with their first child.
And what would be more fitting for a superstar model to reveal her good news than through a Vogue digital cover?
On Tuesday, October 27, Vogue surprised its readers and followers with Ratajkowski starring in a series of social media posts, of which one showed her cradling her belly.
"She has some big news to share!" Vogue captioned.
As part of the reveal, the magazine also posted a snippet of Ratajowski's self-narrated short film titled Who Will You Be?.
This film is a "deeply personal portrait of [Emily's] pregnancy," directed by her good friend, actress, author, and producer Lena Dunham.
“It was important to me that it feel very unfiltered and authentically present,” said Dunham of the film, which features actual accounts of Ratajowski's journey to motherhood. Dunham pieced the celebrity's doctor visits, ultrasound clips, and even the growing baby bump together to create a masterpiece—with Ratajkowski narrating.
For her cover story, Ratajkowski penned her reflections on her pregnancy, and delved more about the gender of baby, saying why she didn't want to reveal the gender of her child.
"We like to respond that we won’t know the gender until our child is 18 and that they’ll let us know then. Everyone laughs at this. There is a truth to our line, though, one that hints at possibilities that are much more complex than whatever genitalia our child might be born with: the truth that we ultimately have no idea who—rather than what—is growing inside my belly," the I Feel Pretty actress wrote.
"I don’t like that we force gender-based preconceptions onto people, let alone babies. I want to be a parent who allows my child to show themself to me. And yet I realize that while I may hope my child can determine their own place in the world, they will, no matter what, be faced with the undeniable constraints and constructions of gender before they can speak or, hell, even be born," she also told Vogue.
Ratajowski and Bear Mc-Clard tied the knot at a courthouse in New York back in 2018 after two months of dating. Though they got married quickly, the couple knew each other from years ago.
