‘RuPaul’s Drag Race’ stars to recreate ‘The Brady Bunch’ episode with original cast
Before Pride month ends, some stars of RuPaul’s Drag Race will recreate an episode of the family sitcom The Brady Bunch alongside the original cast.
Dragging The Classics: The Brady Bunch will be a remake of the “Will the Real Jan Brady Please Stand Up?” episode from Season 2 that will premiere on June 30 on Paramount Plus, in partnership with MTV Entertainment Studios.
The original episode, which first aired in 1971, features Jan, who is blonde, decides to wear a dark wig to a birthday party to make her stand out after feeling that she is being shunned at school because the invite was accidentally addressed to her older sister Marcia.
To make the crossover special, a “state-of-the-art technology to transport the cast into the original Brady house,” will be used according to World of Wonder, producer of RuPaul’s Drag Race.
Drag Race stars Kylie Sonique Love (Jan), Kandy Muse (Cindy), Shea Couleé (Marcia, original castmember Maureen McCormick will not be returning), Bianca Del Rio (Carol), and BenDeLaCreme will step out of drag as Greg, and Nina West (Alice).
The returning cast members include Barry Williams (Mike, previously Greg), Christopher Knight (Peter), Mike Lookinland (Bobby), Eve Plumb (Luch, previously Jan), and Susan Olsen (Margy, previously Cindy).
RuPaul, who appeared in The Brady Bunch Movie and A Very Brady Sequel will play “the wig attendant” and Michelle Visage as Helen.
The Brady Bunch follows the wholesome Brady family from their suburban home, of which the main focus is on the growing up ordeals of the six children. The five seasons of the show ran from 1969 to 1974 on ABC.
Along with the announcement, the first two episodes of RuPaul's Drag Race All Stars Season 6 aired on Paramount Plus on Thursday.
