‘Filipiñana’ actress Jorrybell Agoto seeks help as she undergoes cancer treatment
Jorrybell Agoto, who leads the acclaimed drama film Filipiñana, is receiving critical care as she continues her fight against lymphoma, with her family appealing for financial assistance to help cover her mounting medical expenses.
In a post on social media, Agoto's family detailed that the actress is currently admitted to the Critical Care Unit at St. Luke’s Hospital while "bravely fighting through a difficult chapter in her battle against cancer."
"At present, her lungs are filling with fluid in the pleural area, making it difficult for her to breathe. She currently has a Blake drain to help manage the fluid and support her condition," they said.
"This is a heartbreaking and challenging time for Jorrybell. Her treatment, hospital stay, procedures, medications, and other medical needs continue to bring significant expenses," they added.
Agoto's family provided a QR code as they implored for donations, highlighting that that any amount will make a meaningful difference in her fight. If you are unable to donate, sharing the post with your family and friends would also "mean so much" to them.
"Every donation, every share, and every prayer gives Jorrybell and our family hope and strength to keep going. Please help us give Jorrybell the chance to continue her fight," they said, thanking everyone for their prayers and support.
According to Cleveland Clinic, lymphoma is cancer in your lymphatic system, which is a network of organs, vessels, and tissues that acts as your body's defense system. While it is a serious condition, healthcare providers consider lymphoma to be "one of the most treatable cancers," as treatment can often put lymphoma into remission or even cure it.
Agoto is best known for starring as Isabel, a 17-year-old golf course worker, in Filipiñana. Isabel's fascination with the club's president leads her to uncover the violence and exploitation beneath its polished facade.
The black comedy film premiered at the 2026 Sundance Film Festival in January and has been selected as the Philippine entry for the Best International Feature Film at the 99th Academy Awards.
