SEVENTEEN’s Seungkwan to take a break due to health issues

SEVENTEEN member Boo Seungkwan will take a break from upcoming activities due to health issues, Pledis Entertainment announced.

According to the agency’s official statement released on July 3, the K-pop idol “recently visited the hospital due to feeling unwell” and was advised by the medical staff to take time to recover.

“The artist himself is determined to continue his activities, however, the company felt that it would be better for him to focus on improving his health for the time being…” the statement said.

Therefore, Seungkwan will not be participating in the group’s upcoming events such as the Tencent Music Entertainment Award (TMEA) 2023 to be held in Macau, as well as SEVENTEEN’s upcoming concert tour, “‘FOLLOW’ TO SEOUL.”

The agency is asking for the fans' "generous understanding" and promised to support the idol until he regains his strength.

In April, Seungkwan also took a brief break from joining activities to mourn the loss of his good friend ASTRO's Moonbin.

In a tribute, he wrote: "You were a person who made the world look different. It's so hard to get along this well."

"It was an honor for me to become your friend. And thank you so much for being my friend. Thank you again for allowing me to learn and feel many things. You can be anyone up there. You can put down the sense of responsibility, pressure, and guilt, and wait for me while doing everything you like to your heart's content. I'll live through everything so that these memories don't fade even a little," Seungkwan wrote.
