Selma Blair took to Instagram to personally address the altercation that transpired on a Delta flight to New York City’s John F. Kennedy Airport on Oct. 11.

“I know I’ve been quiet for a couple weeks since October 11th, and you deserve to hear from me directly. And I’m sorry that it’s taken this long,” said the actress in a video.

Blair further explained that “there is a legal matter going on" and that her lawyers have advised her not to talk about anything that happened that day.

"I'm listening to them, and I take this very seriously," she said.

The Hellboy actress said that she never intended to hurt anyone.

“What I can tell you, though, is very simple and the truest thing I know about myself: not one day ever have I intended to hurt or frighten anyone, a day in my life,” continued Blair on her Instagram.

She continued: “And so to the people I disappointed, that I hurt, that I frightened or alarmed, I am so sorry.”

The 54-year-old actress also thanked those who have reached out to her, saying that it "meant everything" to her and her son.

"So right now, I’m going to be taking care of my health and my son, and thinking of you all with gratitude and love," Blair ended.

Blair was arrested and charged, and chose not to plead guilty to two counts of second-degree assault when she appeared in court the following day. Her bail was set at $20,000 cash or $60,000 bond by the judge, and she was released later that evening.

She was accused of assaulting the flight crew, having punched one and kicked another.

While en route to Jamaica Hospital Medical Center for evaluation, she is also alleged to have assaulted a Port Authority officer, who, according to a court affidavit, suffered swelling to her jaw and pain in her face, chest, and neck.  The nurse who had assisted the actress with medical treatment was allegedly kicked in the chest.

A spokesperson released a statement to PEOPLE, saying she "experienced a medical emergency on the flight" and that the actress "did not intend to harm anyone."

The New York Post reported that her lawyer, Shawn Barnes, told the judge at her arraignment that the actress’s actions were due to her missing doses of “a powerful medication that controls severe neurological symptoms,” in regard to her multiple sclerosis condition. Barnes further explained that Blair had been exhausted from work prior to the flight and mentioned an incident in which she hit her head after a fall.

She is set to return to court on Jan. 19, 2027.

Blair is best known for her roles in the films Cruel Intentions and Legally Blonde. She has an upcoming psychological horror titled Dead at 27.
