Rico Blanco mourns death of dog Sylvian: 'My buddy, my joy'
Rico Blanco's dog Sylvian has crossed the rainbow bridge.
The musician shared the news on Instagram, along with a carousel of photos of his beloved fur baby.
"Run free now, dearest Sylvian. My baby, my buddy, my joy. Thank you. I love you so much Sylvie boy," Rico wrote.
The series of pictures included portraits of the Czech and DDR (Deutsche Demokratische Republik) Shepherd pooch as well as images of him with the Rivermaya singer.
While it's not known when Rico first had Sylvian, photos of the fur baby have been on his Instagram feed since October 2013.
His followers and friends shared their condolences and love to Rico in his farewell post for Sylvian.
"Sending out prayers and condolences to [Sylvian]. Also first time to see an all black shepherd. Quite a unique one," commented Rico Robles.
"Oh man... sorry to hear this bro. Run free, Sylvian," said Sam YG.
Meanwhile, Zild Benitez left the hugging emoji in the comments section. Arci Muñoz also left a heartbreak and sad face emoji, while Chito Miranda left three heart emojis.
Rico also has another dog, another DDR Shepherd named Queen.
In December 2024, 9 Works Theatrical announced it would stage a jukebox musical titled Liwanag sa Dilim centered around Rico's songs.
Rico was formerly part of Rivermaya from 1994 to 2007 before he became a solo artist. He's known for hit songs Your Universe, Liwanag Sa Dilim, Kisapmata, Himala, and more.
