Kim Sae Ron's alleged romantic chats with Kim Soo Hyun unveiled by her family

Published Mar 27, 2025 7:53 pm

The family of Kim Sae Ron has released alleged private messages between the late actress and Kim Soo Hyun from when she was a minor in 2016.

Bu Ji-seok, an attorney who represents the late actor's family, shared the supposed evidence in a press conference to contend Soo Hyun's previous statement claiming that his relationship with Sae Ron didn't happen when she was underage.

"Even after evidence proving their relationship was revealed, he did not offer a single word of apology. Instead, he is now lying again, stating that their relationship only began after she became an adult," Ji-seok said, as reported by Soompi.

"In response, the bereaved family wishes to put an end to the controversy by presenting evidence," he added.

In the screenshots of the pair's supposed chats through messaging app KakaoTalk, Sae Ron asked Soo Hyun about whether or not he missed her, to which he replied, "You are cute because you ask questions like that."

When Sae Ron pressed him, he said, "I miss you, I miss you."

In another chat, Sae Ron allegedly told Soo Hyun, "Oh, you would never wake up." The actor then responded with, "I won’t know even if you kiss me," before adding, "When can I go to sleep holding you? I think I’d be able to sleep really well then."

Sae Ron's family also shared messages between the actress and one of her friends, where she told them how Soo Hyun was her "first love" and that her "world has collapsed."

Ji-seok stressed that Sae Ron's family presented the evidence as YouTuber Lee Jin Ho and other individuals involved in the case have been "recklessly exposing the private life of the late actress and spreading false information about her."

He noted how the family no longer wants to "engage in any further meaningless disputes over the truth" after the press conference, detailing how they are "suffering from extreme anxiety as well as severe mental and physical distress" over the issue.

Soo Hyun's agency denied dating rumors with Sae-ron twice, first in March 2024 and in March of this year. It was only on March 14 when he finally confirmed that they dated, but clarified that it did not happen when Sae-ron was just 15 years old and Soo-hyun was 28.

The actor starred in various hit K-dramas, including Queen of Tears, Its Okay Not to Be Okay, My Love from the Star, The Moon Embracing the Sun, Dream High, and The Producers, among others.

Sae Ron, meanwhile, began her career at nine years old and became a notable child star by starring in the thriller-drama Korean film A Brand New Life. She also starred in the 2010 action-thriller film The Man From Nowhere. She passed away in February at 24 by suicide.
