Hong Kong model and socialite Abby Choi may have been struck on the head around seven times before she died, a forensic pathologist testified during the trial for her murder.

Per South China Morning Post, senior forensic pathologist Kwok Ka-ki told the High Court on Nov. 5 that Choi had seven external injuries on her head. Bleeding in the surrounding tissue suggested that the injuries were inflicted while she was still alive.

According to Kwok, each laceration likely resulted from a single blow, indicating that Choi was probably struck about seven times with a hard object.

One of the injuries was a 15-centimeter laceration on the right side of her head that exposed her skull, which had a depressed fracture. She also sustained injuries to her right cheekbone and jaw.

Kwok said the bleeding could have entered Choi's nose and mouth, potentially blocking her airway and causing her to suffocate within about five minutes.

The pathologist also noted that Choi's brain appeared shriveled, soft, and fragile during the examination, likely because it had been cooked.

Choi's ex-husband Alex Kwong Kong-chi, his elder brother Anthony Kwong Kong-kit, and their father Kwong Kau are jointly charged with her murder. All three have denied involvement in their killing but pleaded guilty to preventing the lawful burial of her body.

The 28-year-old model and socialite was reported missing in February 2023. Parts of her dismembered remains were later discovered at a village house in Lung Mei, Tai Po, Hong Kong.

The prosecution alleged that Choi's former relatives had prepared for the crime by renting a village house and purchasing equipment, including a meat mincer, before her death.

The trial is ongoing.
