Enrique Gil understands 'really busy' Liza Soberano for missing screening of his comeback movie
Enrique Gil said he understands why his partner Liza Soberano wasn't able to make it to the special screening of his comeback movie, the raunchy comedy I Am Not Big Bird earlier this week.
The actress had to attend a cosmetics event as its brand ambassador, and was supposed to go back to Los Angeles to promote the comedy horror Lisa Frankenstein, which marked her Hollywood debut.
“It’s fine, it’s fine. I’m gonna have another screening with her pagbalik niya,” he told entertainment reporter MJ Felipe. “She’s really busy.”
When asked by the press if he was disappointed by Soberano's absence, he said, "No, no, no. Of course not. I totally understand, don’t worry."
Earlier, Soberano said she would try to attend Gil's comeback event.
I Am Not Big Bird follows the heartbroken Luis, who went to Thailand with his friends after a failed engagement proposal. He, however, gets followed, chased, and hunted down by Thais because they thought he’s the porn star called “Big Bird” who disappeared from the limelight.
Other cast members include Pepe Herrera, Nikko Natividad, and Red Ollero.
Gil was last seen in the 2020 teleserye Make It with You with Soberano. They’ve since taken separate career paths.
Gil and Soberano have also been embroiled in separation rumors, with Soberano’s former talent manager Ogie Diaz saying he got the word about it based on her interviews, where she doesn’t mention Gil anymore and that she’s against love teams. Gil and Soberano’s “LizQuen” was among the most popular love teams.
But Gil dismissed the rumors earlier this month, noting they’re just both "super busy."
LizQuen debuted in the teleserye Forevermore in 2014. Gil and Soberano have been in a relationship for the past eight years, though they only went public about their status in 2019.
