Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt’s daughter Zahara legally drops ‘Pitt’ from surname

With this, she now goes by “Zahara Marley Jolie” rather than “Zahara Marley Jolie-Pitt.”

Zahara had filed the petition removing the surname back in June. She had signed the document in April prior to her college graduation on May 17, when she was called "Zahara Marley Jolie" when she went on stage to receive her diploma after earning a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Spelman College.

Before this, the 21-year-old introduced herself as “Zahara Marley Jolie” when she joined Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority in November 2023.

She has also used her mother’s surname when she appeared as a special guest at the Pearls of Purpose Foundation’s "Dearest Mother & Daughter: A Most Delightful Brunch Experience" in April. During the event, she spoke about the “unique, almost kindred” bond she shares with her mother.

"Our love for each other is a found one. I was adopted at 6 months old and given some of the most special and loving people as my siblings, with a mom who raised us on the value of helping others, being kind, and always striving for growth as people," she said at the time.

"These values may sound simple, but in a world where kindness is overlooked and helping others comes at a cost, I am grateful to have had a role model to show me what it looks like to be a decent human being," she continued.

Before her, her siblings, Shiloh and Maddox had previously removed Pitt from their surnames, while Vivienne is awaiting her court hearing.

Jolie and Pitt got together after co-starring in the 2005 movie Mr. and Mrs. Smith.

The couple fell apart in September 2016 when Angelina accused Brad of raping her during a plane trip from France to Los Angeles and claimed that he "physically and verbally" assaulted her and their kids.

They were ruled legally single in 2019.
