Zahara Jolie files to legally remove 'Pitt' from her name
Zahara, the daughter of Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt, filed a petition to remove her father's last name from her legal name.
Citing documents they obtained, E! News reported that Zahara—whose legal name is Zahara Marley Jolie-Pitt—requested the name change at the Los Angeles Superior Court on June 4.
Per the entertainment outlet, the 21-year-old signed the petition on April 28 prior to her college graduation on May 17, where she was called "Zahara Marley Jolie" when she went on stage to receive her diploma after earning a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Spelman College.
Before Zahara, her siblings, Shiloh, Vivienne, Maddox, and Pax had previously removed Pitt from their surnames.
Jolie and Pitt became a couple after co-starring in the 2005 movie Mr. and Mrs. Smith. They share six children: Maddox, 23; Pax, 21; Shiloh, 19; and twins Vivienne and Knox, 16.
In 2016, Jolie accused Pitt of raping her on a private plane. She also claimed Pitt "physically and verbally" assaulted her and their kids and said he was already abusive before the plane incident. This was when the Eternals star filed for divorce.
The two were ruled legally single in 2019.
