LOOK: Miss Grand International 2020 Abena Appiah’s lovely Thai-inspired evening gown

Miss Grand International 2020 Abena Appiah stunned the audience at the recently-concluded competition in a lovely yellow gown.

Made by THEE-SI Couture, the beaded number was inspired by the beauty queen’s love for Thailand. “Abena lovessssss Thailand. She spent several months learning Thai. So we asked ourselves ‘If she loves Thailand so much, why don’t we just put her in a Thai-inspired evening gown put together with Thai silk?’ She could be (and she is in our opinion) the ambassador of Thailand,” the brand wrote in an Instagram post.

Refusing to come up with “something old and boring,” the designer added some oomph to its striking yellow color with beads. Another feature worth noting is its see-through fabric. “Even though we don’t have the right shade of see-through fabric for Abena’s skin tone… we dyed it by hands! And it’s totally worth it,” they shared.

The MGI titleholder from the United States of America was followed by Samantha Bernardo of the Philippines (first runner-up) and Ivana Batchelor of Guatemala (second runner-up) at the prestigious tilt, which was held on Saturday, March 27 in Bangkok, Thailand.
