Vina Morales walks the New York Fashion Week runway for a good cause
Actress and singer Vina Morales graced the runway of the prestigious New York Fashion Week 2022 with an important message to tell.
In a video she posted on her Instagram account, Vina channeled the indigenous tribes in Davao del Norte through her green dress, strutting down the fashion runway as the song Una Kaya by Pinikpikan, a band famous for fusing indigenous and modern music styles, played in the background.
Her dress was designed by one of her friends, Joy Soo, with the decorative beads accomplished by John Cloma.
But Vina didn't just put on the native ensemble for nothing as she also aimed to help prisoners and indigenous tribes in Davao del Norte.
"Such an honor to do the grand finale walk at the New York Fashion Week of Musa event for a good cause. The Musa Advocacy that I am supporting helps the prisoners and indigenous tribes in Davao del Norte to have better lives," Vina wrote.
Founded by Soo, Musa Fabric is a fashion company that advocates for artistic tribal vogue constructed from banana fiber behind bars and in the native homes of indigenous women in Davao del Norte.
The Davao region is especially close to Vina's heart as she shared a trivia that her great-great-grandmother is from an indigenous tribe originating from Davao del Sur.
Soo took the time to thank the 46-year-old celebrity for agreeing to be her model and for supporting the advocacy to help the province.
"You never had a second thought dhaii Vina the moment I asked you the favor to walk for Musa. Thank you so much for being a part of this advocacy in Davao Del Norte. We are so much grateful, most especially the prisoners and the tribal women. They will be very happy to see this photo. I will print this including your post for them to see inside the jail and in the mountains. DAGHAN KAAYUNG SALAMAT!" her designer friend wrote in the comments section.
Vina first announced her participation in the New York Fashion Week for Musa on Sept. 13, when she posted a video showing that she was on a billboard at Times Square. She is currently in the United States, enjoying some time after doing solo tours in the country's several cities.
