Beauty queens share secrets on how to look radiant on the red carpet

Published Jun 10, 2025 5:00 am

Pageantry enthusiasts around the globe recognize that the Philippines is a powerhouse of beauty queens. While the “Big Four” pageants—Miss Universe, Miss World, Miss International, and Miss Earth—remain, numerous international competitions are held annually.

We have garnered nine international 2025 pageant titles already: Miss Chinatown Global Khryss Go, Miss Youth International Meggan Shinew, Miss Independent International Weskin Pacalso, Miss Queen of the World Rein Gonzales, Miss Elite Global Francine Tajanlangit, Reina Hispanoamericana Dia Mate, Miss Eco International Alexie Brooks, Miss Aura International Krishan Alerre, and Miss Orient Tourism Global Patricia Bangug. There are seven months left in 2025 and more pageants to conquer.

We know that a whole team of stylists, mentors, and coaches support each of these contestants. For many years, participating in pageants has honed their skills and polished their confidence, but how do they prepare to walk red carpet events, especially those booked only a few weeks ahead? We asked several queens, and four readily answered.

Let’s start with the newly crowned Miss Orient Tourism Global Patricia Anne Nichole Bangug of Pangasinan. Her win is historic, as she is the winner of the inaugural Miss Orient Tourism Global pageant. She will promote cultural ambassadorship, global peace, and responsible tourism.

This nursing student, who started joining pageants at 15 years old (around nine years ago), stunned judges and audiences alike with her statement during the Q&A:

Newly crowned and first Miss Tourism Global Patricia Bangug posted, "Draped in grace, stitched in confidence."

"As Miss Orient Tourism Global, I am not just a representative. I am a movement. With every step I take, I carry the stories of my culture, the strength of my people, and a vision for a world where tourism uplifts, connects, and transforms. I will become a bridge that connects cultures, inspires understanding, and celebrates global unity. Becoming the titleholder and the representative of the Philippines is not actually a challenge. It is an honor. And I know that together with this organization, we can inspire everyone to promote our vibrant culture, our rich heritage, and our warm hospitality. Because, after all, the crown is not just a symbol. It is a responsibility, and I am ready to wear it with purpose, power, and passion,” she said.

Miss Orient Tourism Global 2025 Bangug told us: “Having a more radiant look starts with consistent efforts of maintaining a healthy mind and body. I am into running and Pilates for the endorphins—they help me feel confident and balanced from the inside out. A few days before an event, I focus on staying hydrated, getting enough rest, and keeping a positive mindset to look and feel my best on the red carpet.”

Miss Supermodel Worldwide Philippines Charyzah Esparrago relies on “small, consistent habits” like regular gym visits to maintain her best appearance.

Miss Supermodel Worldwide Philippines 2025 Charyzah Barbara Esparrago, who will compete this month for the global title, shared: “I juggle a full-time job with pageants and modeling, so I’ve learned to prep smart. I rely on small, consistent habits. I make sure to get a facial twice a month from my trusted skin clinic and prioritize strength training at the gym! I keep a checklist of all the makeup and items I need to go from the office to a premiere to avoid last-minute stress. It’s all about working with what you’ve got, even on a busy schedule!”

Bb. Pilipinas International 2021 Hannah Arnold believes in taking the right supplements, good skincare products, and regular gym visits to achieve that glowing look.

Bb. Pilipinas International 2021 Hannah Arnold, from Masbate, finished in the Top 15 of Miss International 2022. “When attending red carpet events, of course, the first thing people notice is what we are wearing and how our make-up and hair look, which takes time to prepare, thanks to our glam team,” she exclaimed.

“So the best thing I can do to help that process is look after my skin with brightening hydrating products and by taking my vitamins for that extra glow. Even if I came from a busy schedule or didn’t get enough sleep, taking the right supplements and using the right products on your face can make a huge difference,” Arnold added.

“Any hacks you do a few days before to look slimmer and more radiant? I definitely make sure to move my body. If I can’t make it to the gym, I make sure to do lots of cardio around my block. But the one thing that definitely makes a big impact is positive thoughts; real beauty comes from within, so if you repeat positive affirmations to yourself, it will show on your face and body, too,” she added.

Miss CosmoWorld Philippines 2024 Samantha Acosta, who also bagged the second runner-up in the international edition of the pageant, eats clean, stays hydrated, works out, and gets enough sleep to look her best.

Samantha Viktoria Acosta, from Bulacan, Miss CosmoWorld Philippines 2024 and second runner-up in the global pageant held in Kuala Lumpur, shared: “Before a red carpet event, I stay hydrated, eat clean meals, and get enough sleep to reduce bloating and keep my skin glowing. I also visit Gold’s Gym Philippines and train with coach Angelo Mendez to stay toned and strong. The night before, I do a simple home facial or LED mask, and on the day itself, I focus on posture and confidence. Since I usually prep everything myself, staying calm and empowered helps me shine from the inside out. ”
