Heart Evangelista paints a Filipino-inspired picture on her Louis Vuitton bag
Heart Evangelista shows her Filipino pride in her latest hand painted Louis Vuitton bag!
To commemorate Independence Day this Saturday, the actress and artist has revealed her latest artwork: a Filipino-inspired hand painted Louis Vuitton Capucines bag.
In this picture, a man can be seen doing harana to a Filipino woman wearing a traditional Maria Clara. Also spotted at the fiesta is Evangelista's pet dog, Panda.
Evangelista has started painting luxury bags when she stained one of her Birkin bags with cheese fries.
"I had an orange lizard skin Birkin bag and I was eating french fries at Chili’s, and I didn’t realize I was getting grease all over the bottom," she told Crazy Rich Asians author Kevin Kwan. Evangelista added, "I tried to clean it, but it was just impossible to fix."
That time, the actress learned about Kim Kardashian’s hand-painted Birkin being auctioned in Europe, and thought "Why don’t I paint on it?" And so she painted a yellow bird on a branch of flowers, and started getting positive reviews from people.
"A lot of women have their bags stained somewhere—one woman’s daughter had scribbled all over her Birkin—so all these clients started coming to me and asking, 'Can you paint on my bag,'" she told Kwan.
Ever since then, she has started commissioning her artwork to clients and showcased some of her works in an exhibit last 2016 called "Carry Your HeART."
"As an artist, I’m pushing myself to try more challenging styles and techniques...also to come up with art that make my clients happy. The result may not always be perfect, but that’s how you learn," Evangelista wrote in one post.
Her clients include Kim Chiu, Jinkee Pacquiao, and Dr. Aivee Teo.
