Strip off your hesitation and flaunt your gorgeous curves with these plus-size swimwear.

Let’s be honest, scouring for local brands that offer swimwear that goes beyond XL is never an easy task. You’ll see plus-size swimwear in bigger retail stores but still, they have limited pieces that almost always break the bank.

But it’s good to know that each year, more and more homegrown brands and retail stores are expanding their sizes not just for inclusivity but also to promote body positivity. It’s also to empower those who are blessed with more curves to embrace their bodies and be liberated from the shackles of society’s abrasive standards of who can and cannot show off skin. (Real talk: some people are offended by just the thought of plus-size women in swimwear.)

This season of sun, gear up with self-confidence in these local brands’ exciting swimwear pieces as you revel in reckless abandon towards skin liberation.

Float Swimwear

Carries sizes up to XXXL

Float Swimwear believes there is no single body type and that each body is a witness to an individual journey. This reflects in its plus-size pieces that embrace a woman’s curves in all the right places.

Float’s pieces—which range from extra-small to XXXL—include bodysuits (P3,750), surf suits (P3,450), one-piece suits (P3,400) and bikini bottoms (P2,550), whose silhouettes are more than enough that they do not need embellishments.

And when one shops for each piece, whether it is modeled by a size XS or XXXL, it is available in the range of sizes the brand offers. It also accepts local and international orders.

Beyond style, it’s also good to note that Float supports kids in Siargao via the Grom Nation program. A portion of every Float purchase is dedicated to its project of providing 300 rash guards for students in the program.

“Whatever your age or size, we got you” is Skinni Swim’s tagline that celebrates women beyond what society thinks they should be.

Its swimwear pieces are reversible with one-of-a-kind prints that are inspired by the rich marine life in the Philippines.

The plus-size pieces of Skinni’s daringly cut monokini (P3,999) have padding  and an additional under-seam for the chest to give additional support, a detail that plus-size swimwear brands sometimes miss.

When it comes to bikinis (which range from P1,899 to P3,999), they are reversible, seamless in UV-protect high quality polyester/spandex that grips that skin when it becomes wet.

The “X Marks the Spot” bikini collection (P3,999) is worth checking out as its design allows one to create up to four bikini combos!

Balud is known for its pieces with eye-catching embellishments that bring whimsy in swimwear.  The whimsy also transcends to its plus-size pieces—full piece and two-piece sets—that go up to XXXL.

The Balud woman is self-aware yet quiet; confident, fearless, and defiant yet demure, sophisticated, and in love with the world. These characteristics reflect on each Balud swimwear like its full pieces Unna and Bella—priced at P1,600 up to P2,500—whose silhouette and style evoke chic confidence.

Its two-piece sets Lucia and Maria, which also bear the brand’s signature floral embellishments, starts from P1,200 up to P2,300.

Its two-piece collections are also a must-note like Cima, with its ultra-flattering triangle top in muted tones that could be mixed-and-matched with different bottoms; and Aguada, with its athletic-wear inspired top paired with hipster bottoms. Some of these two-piece collection items are currently on sale.

Not Size Zero

Carries pieces up to XXXXL

This online store lives up to its name as it only caters to sizes that are Large up to XXXXL (a few items could go up to 7XL!).

Plus-size swimwear (and clothes in general) most of the time are more expensive compared to regular sized items, as obviously, these pieces need extra yardage of material for coverage.

But by browsing the store’s page, one will see that most items don’t go above P500! The store offers a range of designs—from tankinis, monokinis to two-piece swimsuits.

Not Size Zero often holds promos and sale, like its ongoing IG-Stories clearance sale.
