Comunidad is your new wellness sanctuary in San Juan
Nestled in the heart of San Juan City, a new sanctuary named Comunidad is proving that health should be a daily ritual. More than just a studio, this "one-stop shop" for the soul pairs a mindful cafe with a curated wellness space.
Founded by Dr. Anna Rosario-Marcelo and Dr. RC Marcelo, Comunidad was designed to bridge the gap between busy urban lives and intentional movement.
"We really want it (yoga) to be part of people's daily routine," Anna told PhilSTAR L!fe. To make that happen, they’ve launched their signature series: Morning Rise for the early birds and Weekday Wind Down for those seeking an evening workout.
"Morning Risers is a good way to start your day, to help you feel strong focus and excited for the day ahead... And then the evening Wind Down classes help ground you back to yourself after a busy day. It's also a good way to release all the tension built up from the day and be able to enjoy the rest of your evening," she added.
Aside from yoga, they are also offering Tai Chi and mat Pilates classes.
If you’re looking to start your journey, Comunidad offers flexible Buddy Packages starting at P1,200 for two credits or P3,750 for five. For those ready to commit to a routine, a monthly membership is priced at P6,500 and offers unlimited classes (up to two sessions per day).
Their current offering is set to expand soon with services like IV drop therapy, acupuncture, meditation, wellness consultations, and counseling.
While Comunidad welcomes practitioners of every level, it's dedicated to those navigating the start of their careers or new families who are looking for a meaningful way to reintegrate wellness into their daily lives.
"We believe that it's really important to invest in embodying wellness as early as now palang," Anna shared.
First-timers won't be intimidated as the instructors "try to build a more personalized approach" for each student.
This level of care is mirrored in the physical space, which radiates a "cozy, warm" energy that truly feels like a "second home."
She continued, "What we really want to instill here is not just the fitness aspect of yoga, but also the meditative side. So we really try to integrate mindfulness, and we actually trained our teachers before that, to add a lot of mindfulness in their various classes. As we know, based on evidence and research, it's really, really beneficial."
Comunidad is located on the 3rd floor of 226 Wilson St., San Juan City. You can book your classes via Rezerv.
