DBP to push for deposit expansion
State-owned Development Bank of the Philippines is undertaking an aggressive deposit-generation campaign to widen its funding base to support its various lending activities, a top official said.
DBP president and Chief Executive Officer Michael O. de Jesus said the Bank has launched a “Save 2 Win” promotion to generate fresh deposits from both individual and institutional depositors, expanding its financing activities geared towards high-impact developmental projects.
“We believe every deposit entrusted to DBP will help strengthen its capacity to finance transformative projects that will support economic growth, create jobs, and improve the lives of communities across the country,” de Jesus said.
DBP is the 10th-largest bank in the country, with total assets of P1.036 trillion, and provides credit support to four priority sectors of the economy—infrastructure and logistics; micro, small and medium enterprises; the environment; and social services and community development.
De Jesus said the campaign is expected to expand DBP’s deposit base, which grew by 15.51% to P413.41 billion in the second quarter of the year from P357.91 billion in the same period last year.
He said that the campaign offers cash prizes of up to P250,000 to winning individual depositors and gift certificates to winning institutional depositors, which also aims to promote greater financial inclusion, especially among underbanked and unbanked segments of the population.
“We hope to inspire more Filipinos to save not only for achieving their personal financial goals but also for contributing to nation-building and achieving sustainable progress,” he added.
The “Save 2 Win” promo is open to eligible depositors in all DBP branches nationwide and will run until December 31, 2026. The promotion mechanics can be accessed through the DBP website.
