LIST: Events where you can pledge your support for breast cancer awareness this 2022
Looking for ways to support breast cancer awareness?
In celebration of Breast Cancer Awareness Month 2022, some brands and establishments are spearheading events around the metro not just to raise awareness and educate other people about the disease, but also to lend a helping hand to breast cancer patients and survivors in need.
Here are some events lined up this October where you could be one with the community and express your support for the cause.
Araneta City’s free breast check-up, forum, and more
Araneta City goes pink for BCAM 2022. The "City of Firsts" has a breast cancer awareness event running until Oct. 20 on-site and online, with interesting activities divided into three: Screen, Support, and Educate.
Simultaneous events will take place in Farmers Plaza and Ali Mall. The former will treat everyone to a free haircut as well as a fun ballroom class, while the latter will offer a free dance fitness class and a chance to pledge a kit to their partner foundation. Both malls will conduct a free breast check-up and hold a program centered on educating people with facts about breast cancer.
Those who can't go out but want to support the cause may opt to take part in an online contest from Oct. 16-20 and a virtual forum on breast cancer awareness on Oct. 20 at 4 p.m. via Facebook live.
The Medical City’s 'Share A Hair' program
Your hair could go a long way!
The Medical City announced its two-day "Share A Hair" program, which will take place at The Medical City Foyer, Ortigas Avenue, Pasig City.
The initiative is aimed at helping cancer patients gain their crowning glory back through hair donations that will be accumulated at the event.
From 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., some volunteer haircutters will be waiting to accommodate and assist you at the venue. In case you already have your hair cut and collected, you may send it over to their address: Breast Center, 6F The Medical City, Ortigas Ave., Pasig City, 1800 Metro Manila.
It's important to note that TMC is only accepting those with a 12-inch minimum hair length. Individuals with straight, wavy, rebonded, relaxed, or even colored hair are allowed to take part in the program. Those with permed, curly, with highlights, or ombre-colored hair aren't eligible to donate.
