Nora Aunor's wake to open for public viewing until April 20

Fans of National Artist Nora Aunor may visit her wake during the viewing this weekend.

Her daughter, actress Lotlot de Leon, announced the wake details, mass schedule, and date of the state funeral of the late Superstar. 

The wake will take place at The Chapels at Heritage Park in Taguig City, the public viewing is available on Saturday, April 19, until Sunday, April 20, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

A mass will be held every 7 p.m. until Monday, April 21, exclusively for friends and family.  

Her internment will be held at the Libingan ng Mga Bayani on April 22. Additional details about the state funeral have yet to be announced as of this writing. 

Aunor, known as the "Superstar of Philippine Cinema," has died. She was 71. 

Her son, Ian de Leon, the later actress, passed away peacefully surrounded by her nearest and dearest on the night of April 16. 

According to him, her cause of death was acute respiratory failure. He also clarified that his mom didn’t die during her surgery.

Aunor is known for her roles in classic Filipino films Tatlong Taong Walang Diyos (1976), Minsa'y Isang Gamu-gamo (1976), Himala (1982), Bulaklak sa City Jail (1984), The Flor Contemplacion Story (1995), and Thy Womb (2012). 

She was named National Artist for Film and Broadcast Arts in 2022.

Aunor was married to veteran actor Christopher De Leon. They have one biological child, Ian, and four adopted children: Lotlot, Matet, Kiko, and Kenneth. Their marriage was dissolved in 1996.
