Alex Eala has ended her Ningbo Open campaign after falling to Russia's Diana Schnaider in the round of 16.

World No. 13 Shnaider won the round with a 7-5, 6-4 score against the Filipina tennis ace on Thursday at the Yinzhou Tennis Center.

In the first set, Eala took control by holding her serve early on, but after a tense back-and-forth battle with late service breaks, Shnaider pulled ahead at the end to win 7-5.

The second set saw a tight match in the first game, but Shnaider took an early lead before pulling off a 6-4 win. The Russian player will then play against American Iva Jovic in the quarterfinals.

Eala, who is currently ranked World No. 20, previously defeated France's Diane Pearry in the round of 32.

Eala's latest match came after the Singapore Open, where her campaign was cut short after she fell to Russia's Tatiana Prozorova. Meanwhile, in Wuhan, the Filipina bowed out after losing to China's Han Shi in the women's singles and to Anhelina Kalinina and Dayana Yastremska in the women's doubles alongside Zeynep Sonmez.
