Police say missing bride-to-be may have been under emotional, financial distress
The Quezon City Police District revealed that initial findings from a digital forensic examination on missing bride-to-be Sherra de Juan suggest that she may have been under emotional and financial distress.
De Juan went missing on Dec. 10 after she left supposedly for a mall in north Fairview to buy wedding shoes. She left her cellphone to charge at home before she went out.
"On the digital forensic examination, it appears that Miss Sherra has been experiencing emotional distress and financial problems due to her father's medical condition [and] her forthcoming wedding," QCPD director PCOL Randy Glenn Silvio said in a press briefing on Dec. 20.
He added that they found de Juan's browsing history showed sensitive searches for medication.
De Juan's fiancé, Mark Arjay Reyes, told TV Patrol that she wasn't financially distressed.
"'Yung sa father niya po[,] lahat 'yun po, covered ng HMO niya. So wala kaming gastos diyan ni piso," he said. "'Yung sa kasal naman po namin, kaya nga po pinlano namin 'yan eh. Sobra-sobra po kami ng budget sa kasal."
On the sensitive searches about certain medications, Reyes maintained that de Juan is mentally okay.
"Sobrang okay siya," the fiancé said.
Reyes and de Juan were supposed to get married on Dec. 14 before her disappearance. She was captured in CCTV footage on Atherton Street on the day she went missing, but none gave definite clues about her whereabouts.
Reyes was tagged as a person of interest by police on Dec. 17.
In a police investigation, a person of interest is not yet considered a suspect. The term merely gives police the flexibility to further question or investigate certain individuals without having to arrest them.
The fiancé and de Juan's family are offering P150,000 for valid information on the missing bride-to-be's whereabouts.
