National ID registration now open to children under 1—PSA

Published Feb 21, 2025 1:15 pm

The National ID registration for children below 1 is now open, the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) announced.

In a Facebook post, PSA reminded parents and guardians that they must be registered to the National ID system themselves, as the child's National ID number will be linked to theirs.

Otherwise, parents and guardians may register with their children in any PSA registration center and colocation sites.

Parents and guardians must accompany their child and present the following supporting documents:

  • PSA- or the Local Registry Civil Office (LRCO)-issued certificate of live birth
  • PSA or Philippine Foreign Service Post-issued report of birth
  • PSA-issued certificate of foundling
  • PSA-issued certificate of Foundling or certificate of live birth or persons with no known parent/s
  • LRCO-issued Municipal Form No. 102
  • Department of Foreign Affairs-issued Philippine passport or ePassport
  • Any document showing the child's full name, date and place of birth, mother's full name, and father's full name (if acknowledged)

The PSA said only the demographic information and front-facing photograph of the child will be captured.

Complete biometric information, including fingerprints, iris scan, and updated front-facing photograph, will be collected when the child turns 5.

The National ID system was initiated in 2018 with an aim to provide valid proof of identity for Filipino citizens and resident aliens of the Philippines. It's meant to integrate processes, systems, and services.

To date, around 88.98 million Filipinos have registered and about 53 million physical IDs have been delivered.
