SEA Games 2025: Here’s how much cash incentives PH medalists will receive

Published Dec 18, 2025 7:49 pm

Just days before the conclusion of the 2025 Southeast Asian Games, Filipino athletes have achieved historic wins in their respective sports.

The world No. 53 Alex Eala continues to bring historic firsts in the Filipino Tennis community as she became the first Filipina to win the women's singles title in the SEA Games since 1999.

Filipina swimmer Kayla Sanchez made a remarkable debut by winning eight medals, three golds and five silvers, while PH's pole vault star EJ Obiena clinched his fourth SEA Games gold by clearing 5.70 meters.

Despite battling food poisoning, the Philippine Duathlon Mixed Relay team—comprising Merry Joy Trupa, Franklin Ferdie Yee, Erika Nicole Burgos, and Patrick Ciron—still secured a silver medal.

Most recently, the Filipinas, the Philippines' women's national football team, broke the decades-long reign of Vietnam and Thailand in SEA Games women's football, clinching its first-ever SEA Games gold with a 6-5 victory.

As of Dec. 18, the Philippines ranks sixth in the SEA ranking, having a total of 213 medals with 38 gold, 55 silver, and 120 bronze medals.

How much will PH medalists receive?

As mandated by law, Republic Act 10699, also known as the National Athletes and Coaches Benefits and Incentives Act, provides cash rewards to athletes who achieve victories in international competitions.

In the SEA Games, gold medalists will receive P300,000, silver medalists P150,000, and bronze medalists P60,000.

For team games with fewer than five members, the prize for individual medalists is divided equally, while teams with five or more members receive 25% of the individual medal prize per team member.

Coaches will also be rewarded, provided they have personally trained athletes for at least six months prior to an international competition. They are entitled to 50% of the medalists’ cash incentive, which will be divided equally if there is more than one coach.
