Nawat Itsaragrisil set to visit the Philippines
Nawat Itsaragrisil, the president of Miss Grand International, is set to visit the Philippines.
Miss Grand Philippines announced on Instagram that the pageant executive would be arriving in the country on June 9.
This is in line with the grand parade for recently crowned Miss Grand International 2024 Christine Juliane Opiaza on June 9, at 4 p.m. at the SM Mall of Asia Complex. Itsaragrisil will also grace the event.
"Let’s show the world how the Philippines celebrates victory," MGPH said in a Facebook post.
On Tuesday, June 3, Opiaza was officially crowned Miss Grand International 2024 in Bangkok, Thailand.
At the event, the MGI president replaced Opiaza's 1st runner-up title with the coveted MGI crown and sash. He then raised the emotional Pinay's hand as she was proclaimed.
The Filipina beauty queen's crowning comes after previous Miss Grand International 2024 Rachel Gupta relinquished the title following her claims of mistreatment by MGI executives.
In a recent press conference, the Indian beauty queen told Opiaza to take caution during her reign.
"Please protect yourself and please know that when they show their true colors, which they will, I will be there for you, and please be safe and protect yourself and do not let anyone make you feel uncomfortable or targeted," Gupta said.
At the same event, she also detailed the alleged sexual harassment she experienced with the MGI Organization, including representatives "pinching" her body and telling her that she had put on weight, and posting zoomed-in photos of her body parts online.
She also claimed that organizers only paid her a stipend for one month and that she wasn't able to travel to over 20 countries during her reign as promised.
